We are going through the house room by room, item by item. About a third of everything goes into the trash, another third gets donated to charity or given to friends and family and the remaining third we decide to keep, at least for now. Karl and I build two “Pods” inside a shelter, each pod is 8 feet wide and 12 feet long, these pods will store the items that we decide to keep.
Our good friend Ron is building a new home for himself this summer so we offer to “lend” him all of our furniture once our house sells and save him the cost of furnishing his house. We let him know that we may take it back if we ever get a new home in the future.
We spend most of March and April getting the house ready so it can be on the market by May 1st. We have chosen Samantha (Dagostino) Butkiewicus to be our real estate agent, Sam is one of the ski club kids that we took to Florida so many years ago. Sam has six months to sell the house while we spend that time keeping the place clean and neat as we continue to pack and move things.
