We arrive on Wednesday and settle into the RV camping area. There are thousands of RVs here and even though we don't have reservations, they still find space for us including the trailer.
Thursday starts bright and early. In case you are not aware, Hot Air Balloons rise because the air inside the balloon is warmer than the air outside. Because of this balloons only fly around dawn and dusk. Here in Albuquerque dawn means the first 5 balloons go up at 6AM and the rest start rising with the Sun around 7. We get to take a short 10 minute bus ride from the RV lot to the launch field but if you arrive by car it will take over an hour just to get through the front gate traffic.
The balloons are magnificent blossoms of color and shape and lift off in a graceful sequence of perfect harmony until the air is full of their floating wonder.
We are here for the next four days and will enjoy every minute of our time on the launch field. You owe it to yourself to come and soak in this spectacle of color and grace.
